World Wrestling Association
Was a lucha libre promotion based in the Tijuana area of Mexico and South California area of USA, promoted by Benjamin Mora. It featured Mexico's best luchadores at the time such as Rey Misterio, Hijo del Santo, Eddie Guerrero, Perro Aguayo, Fishman, Mano Negra, Súper Astro, Mil Máscaras, Los Villanos and future stars like Psicosis, Ultraman 2000 (Damián 666) and of course Rey Misterio Jr. when he starting wrestle like Colibrí in early 90´s.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s and was also featured on American television via the Fox Sports en Español channel (before La Cadena Deportiva Prime Ticket in South California). Also in Tijuana´s Canal 45 aired some shows during early 90s. A lot from that footage, later was released such WWO´s VHS.
Under WWA promotion, Auditorio de Tijuana also was named "Cementerio de las Máscaras" because a lot of famous wrestlers lost their masks there including Rey Misterio, Kato Kung Lee, Super Kendo, Ultraman, Mercenarios Americanos and others.
Although inactive during the late 1990s, during which time much of its roster had left to compete in World Championship Wrestling and international promotions; the World Wrestling Association resumed operations in 2003 and again featured shows on Tijuana´s Canal 45 and two years later were repeated in Fox Sports en Español channel. That footage was released in DVD again like WWO.
