José Luis Melchor Ortiz, best known as El Halcón, Súper Halcón or Danny "El Halcón" Ortiz was 5-time Mexican National Heavyweight Champion, 4-time NWA American Tag Team Champion, 2-time NWA American Heavyweight Champion, and WWA World Heavyweight Champion. He was a popular competitor throughout Mexico, United States and Japan during the 1970s and 1980s as both, tecnico and rudo. Competed mainly in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, World Class Championship Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling. Had memorable feuds with Herodes, Pirata Morgan, Los Gemelos Diablo, Alfonso Dantes, Harley Race, and Mil Mascaras whose rivalry cost Halcon's mask in 1978.
