Debuted at the age of 15. His fondness for lucha libre began by watching El Santo's movies. The first time he saw a live lucha libre event was on May 5, 1984 in Auditorio de Tijuana.

In 1986, Mandingo, took him to train lucha libre for the first time at Gym Zeus in Mexico State with Roy Reyes.
