The captial of Mexico, Mexico City (sometimes called "DF" or "Distrito Federal") is the heart of the lucha libre world. CMLL has it's headquarters there and it's two most famous arenas, Arena Mexico and Arena Coliseo are both located in Mexico City. Between being Mexico's largest city and hub for lucha libre, many stars are originally from or got their start in Mexico City.

Mexico City is in the state Distrito Federal (DF), but since the state only includes Mexico City, the two place names are functionally the same. (Mexico State is an entirely different place.)
