Misawa, possibly the greatest professional wrestler of all time, spent most of his career in Japanese promotions [[AJPW]] and [[NOAH]], which he founded. Misawa's time in Mexico was in CMLL as part of a learning excursion.
 
Misawa, teaming with fellow AJPA novato [[Samurai Shiro]], started in Mexico from [[March 16]], [[1984]] and was expected to say a year. Misawa was quickly brought back to Japan to redebut on July 31, 1984, as the new Tiger Mask after [[AJPW]] purchased the rights to use the character in wrestling.
 
During his short stint in CMLL, Misawa challenged [[Satanico]] for the [[NWA World Middleweight Championship]], Misawa's first major championship match.
 
Misawa passed away in 13th June 2009, during a match, due to injuries suffered taking a backdrop driver from Akitoshi Saito in a match for the GHC Tag Team Championship, his partner was Go Shiozaki.
